Make your wardrobe last longer:
To keep your clothes in top condition and optimize their lifespan, follow these guidelines: 1. Unbutton shirts and pants before washing them to avoid possible tears. 2. Dry clean all pieces of an outfit together. The chemicals used in the process can sometimes cause color changes. 3. Follow these guidelines for beaded items: dry clean if the beads are glued on; hand wash if they're sewn on. 4. Alternate pairs of leather shoes to give them a day to dry out. This will make them less likely to crack. 5. Wash or dry clean delicate garments as little as you can get away with. 6. Clean wool items before storing them for the summer; even the smallest stains can attract moths. 7. Remove belts before hanging up pants. If left in the belt loops, they can stretch out the fabric. 8. Hang delicate evening wear in cloth garment bags. Plastic garment bags can cause changes in color. 9. Spray suede shoes with a stain repellant before wearing them to keep water, salt, and oil stains to a minimum. 10. Breathe new life into even the oldest, worn shoes by having a shoemaker re-heel and resole them.
